Google’s ever-impressive Pixel smartphone lineup has only gotten better over the years. The most recent entry in the long-running line of gorgeous, premium Google handsets is the Google Pixel 7, an eye-catching and surprisingly affordable high-end smartphone.

If you’re in the market for a new handset and looking to get something premium without the sky-high price tag, then you’re in luck. Here’s how the Google Pixel 7 stacks up against the competition.

What Works

The Google Pixel 7 is a great phone for a variety of reasons. Foremost among those reasons is the camera. For the low price of $599, you get a phone with a camera that can rival anything seen on a modern iPhone or Samsung Galaxy handset. To add to this, Google includes a suite of powerful software that helps to make the most of any photos you snap with the phone.

Google’s bespoke Tensor G2 chip powers the Pixel 7, and it shows in the way the phone handles the proprietary Android 13 operating system. Of course, Google shares Android with other phone developers, but the company knows how to make the most of its own software, and the Pixel has always felt like the Android answer to the iPhone because of this.

Design and Specs

The Pixel 7 also looks gorgeous, sporting an iconic Google design that makes it as fun to look at as it is to use. Given that most people spend plenty of time with their phones in their hands, it helps if you really like how the device looks.

In addition to this stylish new design, the Pixel 7 sports a luminous screen and plenty of power for mobile gaming. Just be aware that the battery is a bit lackluster compared to some competitors, meaning that you might only get a few hours of battery life out of it if you’re trying to play something meaty like Fortnite or Pokemon Go.

Bottom Line

It’s hard to go wrong with the Pixel 7 lineup. If you’re in the market for something beefier than your average smartphone, you can opt for the $900 Pixel 7 Pro, but that’s not a requirement to get your hands on a fantastic phone. The baseline, $600, Pixel 7 is still a fantastic handset.

If you’re an Android user who wants a boutique experience like what you might get from the iPhone, the Google Pixel is the phone for you.
