Huge News Announced at Microsoft’s Massive Surface Event

As recently as a decade ago, Microsoft wasn’t known for its hardware. However, the 2012 release of the Microsoft Surface hybrid tablet changed that, solidifying Microsoft as a true competitor in the hardware space.

Now, Microsoft wants everyone to know that Apple isn’t the only big name when it comes to tablets and laptops. The company’s massive Microsoft Surface event unveiled tons of news about the titular product line, and fans of Microsoft’s tablets and laptops will be buzzing about this one.

Let’s take a look at some of the biggest news unveiled during Microsoft’s Surface event.

Surface Laptop Studio

The Surface Laptop Studio looks like a huge upgrade over the line it’s replacing: the Surface Book 3. The new Laptop Studio has a display that can be moved into three distinct positions, in addition to the normal “hybrid” approach taken by Surface devices.

This one looks like a perfect fit for artists and other creative people, with the Surface Laptop Studio seemingly taking aim at the MacBook as its main competitor. The slim profile and 14-inch display make this one of the most eye-catching devices shown during Microsoft’s event.

Surface Duo 2

The Surface Duo 2 is an intriguing option from Microsoft. It’s a large, folding, tablet-like device that sports two screens and functions as something between a tablet and a phone. Reviewers are a bit split on the device, which has been called “clunky” and “confusing” by some.

Others feel as though the Duo’s unique form factor and dual-screen design make it one of the most interesting hardware offerings from Microsoft. It will certainly be worth watching the response to the Duo 2 to see how reviewers feel about the newest entry in the unusual lineup.

Surface Pro 8

The Surface Pro 8 and the upscaled Surface Pro X form the flagship devices of the Surface line. They’re certainly impressive, showing off huge upgrades at the event that will dramatically increase their performance. Those who love making their Surface tablets into Surface laptops can opt for the add-on Type Cover, which functions as both a keyboard and a screen cover.

The newly-redesigned Type Cover also has a new reservoir in place that houses the Slim Pen 2. This is, foremost, a nice place to hide your Slim Pen so it doesn’t get knocked off of your device and get lost. The reservoir also functions as a wireless charging port for the Pen!
