Monday morning it was reported that Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock and his business partner ex-wife Dany Garcia have partnered with Gerry Cardinale’s RedBird Capital to purchase the XFL for $15 Million. Yes, Vince McMahon’s XFL.
The deal came just before the league and its assets were to go up for auction. No cheerleaders were to be part of the auction. The league had filed for bankruptcy protection earlier in the year after the coronavirus pandemic wiped out the inaugural season of the upstart’s return.
A source close to the deal who does not want to be identified has said “The Rock and his friends, John Cena, and Steve Austin have plans to play all positions on one of the XFL teams, the team name is The Tres Amigos.”
The deal is contingent on the bankruptcy judge who it is reported to be very confused about how any man can do business willingly with an ex-wife.
If you’re keeping score, this is the second time The Rock has bailed out former boss McMahon.
